What is Dungeon Settlers?
Dungeon Settlers is a dark fantasy strategy game by the small studio CanOpener, published with WhisperGames. You build a settlement on corrupted land, then send a party of up to four settlers into randomised dungeon floors with real-time-with-pause combat. Dead settlers stay dead. It entered Steam Early Access on 4 September 2026.
Is it Dungeon Settlers or Dungeon Settler?
The title is Dungeon Settlers, plural. Searches for Dungeon Settler, dungeon-settlers or Dungeon Settleers all mean the same game. It is sold as 地城拓荒 in Chinese, ダンジョンセトラーズ in Japanese and 던전 세틀러즈 in Korean. It is not related to The Settlers series.
Is Dungeon Settlers multiplayer or co-op?
No. It is single-player only. Steam lists Single-player, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing, and there is no online mode, co-op or PvP in the Early Access build.
Is Dungeon Settlers on Steam Deck, Mac or consoles?
It runs on Windows and macOS through Steam, and Valve rates it Playable on Steam Deck, although CanOpener does not officially support the Deck yet. No PlayStation, Xbox, Switch or mobile version has been announced, and controller support is not currently planned.
How much does Dungeon Settlers cost, and is there a demo?
It costs $24.99, with 15% off ($21.24) during the launch sale. The free Steam demo that ran from 25 May was withdrawn on 27 August 2026 because it no longer matched the Early Access build.
Is Dungeon Settlers like RimWorld or Darkest Dungeon?
It borrows from both. The settlement side works like a colony sim with rooms, jobs, task priorities and food, and reviewers often call it RimWorld meets dungeon crawling. The dungeon side, with a four-person party, stress and permanent death, is closer to Darkest Dungeon. Players with long RimWorld histories point out that the settlement is much smaller and exists to support the dungeon runs.
When does Dungeon Settlers leave Early Access?
CanOpener's roadmap estimates the 1.0 release for the third quarter of 2028, with Update 4 planned for late 2026 and new regions arriving in Updates 5 and 6.
Where is the official Dungeon Settlers Discord?
The invite CanOpener posts in its Steam announcements is discord.gg/CCy3hkgDtA. Bug reports, suggestions and the Early Access community events run there. The links page lists every official channel.
Is there a Dungeon Settlers subreddit?
CanOpener does not run an official subreddit. Most player discussion happens on the Steam forum and the Discord, and launch threads have appeared on general subreddits such as r/Games and r/BaseBuildingGames.
Does Dungeon Settlers support mods?
Not officially yet. Modding support is planned as a beta in Update 5. A community mod, Tic's Settler Toolkit, already edits settlers, traits and inventory, and its author said it would go up on Nexus Mods once the game is listed there.
Can you play Dungeon Settlers offline?
Yes. Since patch v0.3.21 the game can be launched while offline.
What languages does Dungeon Settlers support?
English, French, German, Russian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. Most translations started as machine translation corrected by the community, and CanOpener runs a survey for new languages.
