Dungeon Settlers Party Builds: Tank, Healer and DPS
These are builds players describe on the Steam forum and in guide videos, not a ranking. Party size is four, and a settler’s background decides which trees they can open (see backgrounds and skill trees).
The balanced trio plus one
The 10 Advanced Tips video calls it the “iron trio”:
- Tank: a shield user with the Fortress and Guardian sub trees to soak damage and taunt.
- Damage: a pure DPS with Execution and Blitz to kill what the tank holds.
- Support: a mage who heals, cleanses and buffs.
- Flex: whatever the next dungeon needs, often an archer.
Four similar builds look strong on paper but collapse in the first hard fight because nobody absorbs damage or saves anyone.
Four fire mages
A player who finished Very Hard and moved to Devastation runs four fire mages with Blunt/Bow/Fire proficiency so they get the Fortress, Blitz and Burst sub trees during character creation:
- Fortress grants a barrier worth about 5% of max health when they apply a debuff.
- Blitz unlocks Sharp Shooter (+42% crit) after 2,500 kills, and keeps it after a respec.
- Fire gives Fire Cloak (an instant barrier), Incinerate (consumes Burning for huge damage) and Blazing Echo (eight hits that apply Burning and trigger the Fortress barrier).
- Burst adds 3% damage per Burning stack on the target and heals 4% when applying Burning.
With four casters, Burning reaches its 50-stack cap very quickly.
Always a nature mage
Several players say never to leave without one. A nature staff turns the basic attack into Healing Touch, Strange Seed heals adjacent allies and becomes terrain the enemy has to walk around, and Solar Bloom stuns, which is ideal against mini-bosses. Its sub tree can also heal settlers.
Archers and spears
- Archers snipe back-row enemies such as spitting insects before they corrode armour; Sniping Shot and Steady Shot can one-shot ranged enemies.
- Players give archers the spear sub tree for extra attack speed at the start of fights.
- Lycans are the race players pair with spears; one reports a Lycan spear warrior working well.
- A water mage adds slime summons and area shields for sustain.
Barricades
You can build in the dungeon. One player blocks a two-tile hallway with two barricades, baits enemies with the archer and lets a shield swordsman, a spear, a nature staff and a bow work the choke point.
See the combat guide for how to run these parties in a fight.
