Dungeon Settlers Mods: Toolkit, Save Editing and Plans
Official modding support
CanOpener’s roadmap lists Modding Support (Beta) in Update 5, with a note that comprehensive support will be introduced gradually through the beta. Players who read the game’s FAQ say it warned that support would not be very robust at first. Update 5 has no date yet; Update 4 is planned for Q4 2026, so modding support is further out.
Tic’s Settler Toolkit
The first notable community mod was posted on the Steam forum shortly after launch. Its author described it as an in-game toolkit that edits:
- character stats and attributes;
- main and sub traits (with a trait discovery system that learns valid traits as you meet them);
- health, energy, hunger, stress, level, XP and skill points;
- stackable inventory items and settlement values.
The author said it would be uploaded to Nexus Mods once Nexus approved the game for listing, and asked for bug reports; players immediately requested talent and inscription editing. Treat any third-party mod as use-at-your-own-risk and back up your save first.
Save editing and technical notes
- Players on the forum say save files are fairly easy to edit, for example to recover a boss soul stone, which cannot otherwise be farmed.
- One player modded the demo with BepInEx and says the game is built in Unity, which is why modding tools arrived fast.
- Cheat tables and trainers are not covered here.
Why people want mods
Most requests on the forum are about randomness: locking recruit stats and traits, rerolling level-ups, and editing talents. CanOpener has already added some locks in patch v0.4.19 (see inscriptions); follow the roadmap for what comes next.
Thanks for the feedback!
